You are spoilt for choice with various types of beaches in the area. Straight out the front is a mixture of sand and reef more suited to intermediate surfers. A short walk down the beach you will find a couple bathing rock pools set in the reef. There is also a shallow lagoon perfect for children with the right tide and swell.
Walking a little further Matara direction are a number of swimming beaches protected by the offshore reefs.
Polhena beach is popular with locals and can be quite busy on the weekends.
If you want a beach party then the tourist hubs of Mirissa and Welligama are a tuk-tuk ride away.
